This Week I'm thinking about...

Lift Off
I love an extra kick in my classes to keep me going and Lift Off is perfect for just that. They have a blend of guarana, tourine and caffeine and is packed with vitamin B and C! Not only is it nutritious but it has no sugar, that's right, NONE!

If you need to get your hands on some (and you do) get some HERE

I've never been sure how I feel about Vibram Five Fingers, but find myself increasingly coming round to the thought of them. As described on the website here:
'the main characteristic of this extraordinary shoe: the sole with five fingers made of Vibram® rubber, which, as a flexible glove, helps the natural articulation of the foot stimulating muscles of the lower limbs and therefore gives a higher sense of well-being to the whole body.'
That sounds good to me! I think I definitely do need to try some out.
I think it would have to be these ones, maybe minus the straps

This Week I'm thinking about...04/03/2012

Rebuild Endurance We all know how important it is to put the right nutrients into our body after exercise in order to allow recovery to begin. Rebuild Endurance has many benefits:
  • Rich in protein, from milk protein concentrate and whey protein isolate
  • Designed to help speed recovery with a unique carbohydrateprotein blend to support muscle glycogen replenishment and rebuild muscle during the critical post-exercise period
  • L-Glutamine to support the immune system, which becomes stressed by exercise
  • Includes L-Carnitine to aid muscle metabolism and recovery after exercise
  • Independantly tested for prohibited substances
Purchase yours here!!

Crossfit, in my opinion, is a totally bonkers, incredibly intense, relentless unstopping fitness regime. It's fun, it's hard, but it is so worth it! Click here for more info/

Pre Workout Nutrition

What you consume before your workout can make or break your performance. So many people place a huge emphasis on their post workout nutrition, and their is absolutely no question that post workout nutrition is ESSENTIAL, but pre workout nutrition is vital.

Think about how you feel exercising on an empty stomach; weak, light headed, you might just put in half of the effort that you could be putting in. If you start a workout on an empty stomach then your glycogen stores will already be depleted resulting in your body utilising muscle as a source of energy. I don't need to tell you that is bad news do I?

How well does you car work without petrol?

If you can't push yourself to your limits, what is the point in working out?

Imagine your workout straught after a bowl of pasta, you may feel sluggish, tired, sick and get stomach cramps. If you haven't given your body enough time to digest the food then it will have a detrimental effect on your workout.

For my pre workout nutrition I swear by Formula 1 Sport, one hour before training. With carbs, proteins, vitamins and minerals it is spot on for fuelling me through my gruelling and often lengthy workouts.

The Trainer becomes the Trainee

Towards the end of last year I completely lost my mojo for training in the gym. I would go along and put half the effort into the exercises and not complete all sets. So at the beginning of January I started having personal training sessions. These sessions were Crossfit based, a way of training that I had never done before and I LOVE it!

I was doing hand stand push ups, monkey bars, climbing around on a rope, jumping all over the place and lots more. It reignited my fire for training and made it enjoyable again.

Where I used to spend an hour + in the gym per session I am now in and out in 30mins. I get warmed up, go through the circuit slow and light, then smash up the circuit back to back for 12 mins.

This week I'm thinking about (01/02/2013)

Formula 1 Sport. I have this before an training session. My main downfall when training and teaching is hunger, and not having enough energy, especially when teaching back to back classes. Formula 1 Sport sorts that right out! It has the right balance of proteins, carbs, minerals and vitamins which keeps my energy levels topped up allowing me to finish my training effectively. (Plus it tastes amaaaazing!) If you have been looking for the perfect pre workout supplement then check it out HERE

BODYATTACK™
Next weekend I am going to do the Body Attack Advanced instructor module. I have already completed the Body Pump AIM1 and the Body Combat AIM1 (read about that here). I did the initial training in December 2011 and didn't actually start teaching my own classes until the programme launched at the Sovereign Centre in September 2012. Since then I have taught 4 classes per week and have completely fallen head over heels in love with the programme. My fitness has improved so much since I have been teaching Body Attack, plus I LOVE jumping...so it suits me just fine. I feel ready to take my teaching to the next level and gain some feedback on my teaching so that I can continue to improve my technique and coaching allowing me to deliver some cracking classes!

This Week (24/01/2013) I'm thinking about...

RoseOx®. I have been lucky enough to make it through the winter so far without catching any bugs/ viruses/ lergies, until now, I have been blessed with a throat infection. I've felt it tickling for the last few weeks but thought I had strained my voice having taught so many classes without a head mic recently. It has now become apparent that this is not the case. RoseOx® supports the immune system and improves the benefits of other vitamins, including vitamin C and E. I'm awaiting their arrival to get my immune system boosted from next week! Order yours HERE.

New Shoes!
Every girl loves new shoes right? Well, I am OBSESSED with trainers! Specifically Nike Frees, my latest pair are Nike Free 3.0. They are absolutely AMAZING!! Their flexible and squishy, I think they look gorgeous, they feel gorgeous. I want a pair in every colour...but I have had to put a limit on my trainer buying habit. I've been limited to one pair every 3 months, so no more for me until the beginning of April. *sigh*. Oh well, that leaves me 2 months to choose ;) Nike Store

BBC Horizon
I watched half of the first one and felt it sent out the wrong message...which was confirmed when I started coming across gym goers who had seen it who were delighted to only have to spend 3 minutes in the gym a week. And obese people claiming they have tried everything possible (apart from moving more and eating less obviously), who decided that they were 'non-responders' to exercise. Don't get me wrong, the research into it is great, it's actually very interesting, but the outcome was just very irritating. Have you been watching it? What do you think? Watch here

New(ish) job

About a year ago I took over the role of Group Exercise Coordinator at the Sovereign Centre in Eastbourne. I took on the role not really knowing what to expect but I was up for a challenge and willing to give it a try. I have had an absolutely AWESOME year! I have been teaching classes at the Sovereign Centre for 3 years now and have become really familiar with not only the place, but the class participants and other instructors too. This has been a great opportunity for me to try out skills that I learnt at University, to test if I really can communicate with others, to see if I actually can organise a team of people in the real world, most of the time it has gone pretty smoothly.

If I'm totally honest...I LOVE my job! I love the people I get to work with, the participants are amazingly mad, the instructors, adequately bonkers.
